Email & text messages

What sends automatically, how to make it sound like you, and how the batches work.

What sends, and when

Messages in Cordial are tied to things that happen: a school registers and gets a confirmation with its edit link, lodging assignments go out to guests and hosts, reminders go to schools that have not responded. You trigger the lodging batches yourself; confirmations send on their own.

Making it sound like you

  1. Open the gear menu and choose Templates. The Email & SMS Templates screen lists every message the system can send, with its current wording.
  2. Click Customize on any template to reword it. Placeholders in double braces, like the guest's name or the host's address, fill in per recipient.
  3. Changed your mind? Reset to Default puts the standard wording back. A "Customized" badge shows which templates you have touched.

The lodging notification batches

On the Lodging screens, Notify Guests and Notify Hosts send each person their assignment by text. Before anything sends, the recipients queue shows exactly who is about to be messaged. Sending runs in small paced batches with a progress bar, which keeps carriers from treating a hundred church texts as spam. You can run the buttons again after changes; only people with pending notifications are queued.

Want to announce something to everyone at once? A general announcement composer is not in the organizer dashboard yet. For a one-off announcement today, export the contact list to CSV and use your email, or ask us; adding it is on the list and pilot feedback moves things up that list.
