What we text, and how to stop it.

Who sends the messages

Texts come from Cordial Conference on behalf of the meeting you registered for or offered to host for. We are not a marketing list and we do not text you about anything other than the meeting you are involved with.

When you gave us permission

When you ticked the text-message box on a registration form or a lodging host form. The box is optional and starts empty: you can fill the form in and send it without ticking anything, and if you leave it alone we do not text you — and we will not contact you about your lodging, hosting or transportation by any other means either. Ticking it is the only way we get permission. We do not buy numbers, we do not text a number somebody else entered for you, and giving us your number on its own is not permission.

What we send

• Confirmations for a registration you completed.
• Lodging: who you are hosting, or where you are staying, and any changes to it.
• Meals, where the meeting uses that: the slot you signed up for and reminders about it.
• Rides, where the meeting offers them: when your shuttle or bus is leaving, where to wait, and whether a vehicle is running late.
• Occasional messages from the meeting's committee about the meeting itself.

How often

Very little outside of the meeting itself. In the days around a meeting it is heavier — if the meeting runs rides, that may be several messages a day while you are travelling to and from sessions. It stops when the meeting does.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message and we will not text that number again. Carriers handle this for us, so it works immediately and it covers everything — including things you may still want, like your ride to the airport. If you only want off one particular list, such as a parking-lot shuttle queue, reply SKIP instead, which leaves the rest alone.

Cost

We do not charge for messages. Your own carrier's message and data rates may apply.

Your number

We never sell or rent phone numbers, and we do not share them with advertisers. Your number is visible to the committee running your meeting, and to the delivery provider that carries the message. Where a meeting runs rides, a driver assigned to you can see the number so they can reach you at the kerb — and only for as long as that trip is theirs.

Getting it wrong

If you are receiving messages for a meeting you have nothing to do with, or for a number that is not yours, reply STOP and then tell us so we can fix the record rather than leaving somebody else to run into it next year.
